My (lackluster) experience with Royal Road

As a lot of you know, I started writing on Royal Road about a month ago to try and test an upcoming new series. I have a lot to say on the subject, but I'll keep it short and to the point, otherwise, I'll probably go on a rant.

In the few short weeks I've written on that website, I have discovered a new breed of internet troll, one that I didn’t even know existed. Everyone had something to say about your free story, and about 90% of it ain't exactly nice.

Some of the people on that website are so toxic, that I feel society as a whole would be better off without them, but seeing as that's a bit morbid, I propose that internet trolls have their rights to the internet revoked. It'll probably never happen, but hey, who knows...

Anyway, I made one last post this morning, about how I would no longer continue writing there, giving my story away for free, due to the toxic environment. And that I would be releasing a full book in May. If I wasn't convinced before that Royal Road was a cesspool of degenerate, immature, waste-of-life trolls, the immediate flood of negative ratings to an already deleted book decided it for me.

One would think that people who enjoyed the story would have something nice, or perhaps consoling to say, but all I got were a few comments about how I, the author, basically suck.

In short, I would not recommend Royal Road to ANYONE, least of all aspiring authors looking to do market data or gain constructive criticism.

If it were possible, I'd personally gear up, join a party and go burn that troll den to the ground. But seeing as that's not possible, I'll have to content myself with simply trashing it on the internet.
